The Multi-Cultural Center presents a number of events to the community throughout the year in The Coliseum.

Additionally, The Multi-Cultural Center of Sioux Falls hosts the annual Festival of Cultures at Falls Park each June.

June 21, 2021, 12pm-6pm

Enjoy sights, sounds, and tastes from around the world as we bring the Sioux Falls community together for a fun day of celebration! Stroll through local vendor booths, participate in interactive workshops where you can learn various cultural traditions and skills, taste a variety of foods from around the world at popular local food trucks, and enjoy entertainment throughout the day on our main stage.

This event is free and open to the public.

Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service

Held annually each January

To honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., our after-school programs dedicate their time and energy to a service project. In past years, projects have included packaging hygiene kits and making winter scarves for the homeless, which were distributed across the city.

Native American Day Wacipi (wa-CHEE-pee)

Annually, each second Monday in October

South Dakota celebrates Native Americans’ Day on the second Monday of October. On this day, we celebrate the customs, culture, and history of Native Americans through a community dinner followed by traditional dancing , drumming, and singing.

Before the event, children who are regular participants of the Multi-Cultural Center after-school programs have the opportunity to learn dances and pow wow etiquette.

This event is free and open to the public.

 

Human Rights Day Essay Contest

Annually, each December

The Human Rights Day Essay contest is held in honor of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, signed on December 10th, 1948. The essay contest helps raise awareness about the Declaration and its importance and provides young people the opportunity to reflect on human rights issues.

 

International Chef Cook-Off

Annually, each December

Each year, 14 local celebrity chefs compete for the title of “Top Chef of Sioux Falls!" Bring your taste buds to sample delicious bites from around the world.

This is a ticketed event: all proceeds benefit our programs and services, directly supporting the Sioux Falls community.
